Buying images

You can purchase prints of any image on the site. However, please note that all the images are limited editions of 150 prints, and it is possible that some may no longer be available. We will update the site as quickly as possible should an edition be complete. Each image is available in three formats: an A4 print; an A3+ print; and an A3+ print already framed and ready to hang. A4 prints are 29.7cm x 21cm; A3+ prints are 48.3cm x 33cm; framed A3+ pictures are 63cm x 47cm. All these measurements are approximate since they depend on the precise aspect ratio of the individual image. The longest dimension will therefore be a few millimetres smaller than the longest side quoted to allow for a small white border: the shorter side will then be determined by the aspect ratio.

Prints will be delivered within 10 days, whilst a framed image will take up to three weeks since prints are framed to order. The framed prints have an approximately 8cm wide white mount, a thin 1cm black wood frame, and picture glass. If you do not live in the UK, the postage costs of purchasing a framed print are prohibitive, and you would be well advised to buy a print only. For all international orders (prints and framed prints), please read the information in the "Making a purchase" section below.

Technical details

All the images (even the large ones on the proof pages) on this site are highly compressed, and do not compare in quality to the full-sized image files that are used to make the prints. All the original images are post-processed from 10MB (average value since actual size is image-dependent) RAW files and produce excellent quality prints even at A3+ size.

Please also note that the prints are made within a "colour-managed" workflow. This means that the colours in the final print are as identical to the colours on screen as is technically possible, but that can only be guaranteed if the monitor on which you view the site is also colour calibrated. If your monitor is not calibrated, then it is possible that the images are being displayed with a slight colour distortion which will not be present in the final print. Whilst Stephen Brown Photography guarantees that the prints are faithful to the original colours captured by the camera, we cannot therefore guarantee that the colours in the print will be identical to those displayed on your monitor.

Prints are made using HP Vivera pigment-based inks which have a claimed life of 200 years under glass and out of direct light. All prints are made on PermaJet's Oyster 271 gsm paper, and so avoid too much direct reflection whilst having a pleasing lustre.

Canvas prints are processed on our behalf by Design-a-Canvas, and details can be obtained from which also provides a link to their site.

Making a purchase

The images in the galleries are clickable, and doing so opens a new proof page showing the relevant image at a resolution of 1000px wide for images in landscape orientation, and 730px high for images in portrait orientation. Down the right hand side of each of these proof pages are PayPal "Add to cart" buttons. Use these buttons to order the format (A4 print, A3+ print, A3+ framed print, or print onto canvas) you require. Follow the instructions in the PayPal window to complete your purchase.

The charges include shipping within the UK only. Please ask about international shipping charges via the "Contact us" page (using the link in the menu bar at the top of the screen) before making a purchase.

If you experience any difficulties, or have any questions, please also let us know by using the "Contact us" page as described above.
